At the July 11, 2018 meeting of the Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board, the Board unanimously approved a policy and procedures for permission to begin the reentry process. The purpose of the policy is to ensure that instructors whose certification has lapsed have approval from the MICRB to begin the reentry process. Instructors without approval from the MICRB to begin the reentry process are in violation of COMAR, and thus both the instructor and the sponsoring agency assume the associated liabilities. Instructors who have NOT been approved by the MICRB are prohibited from teaching or representing themselves as MICRB-certified State Emergency Services Instructors.
This policy is effective immediately. Any requests for reentry submitted for approval at the next meeting will NOT be accepted without the required documentation.
